Phasions from Simon Thorogood

I have been following Simon Thorogood’s future fashions since the 1990’s. His work is done with all woven fabrics, mostly satin. The patternwork, as well as the aesthetic of simplicity is also what draws me to his designs. As someone who does patternmaking, it is mind blowing to see the way that dart equivalent seamlines are added into a garment as shapes, and how the center from seamline is eliminated in this process. Yet, the garments fit perfectly. He is mainly an installation artist, combining his work with sound and light to make it even more dramatic. Phasion is his new term, and his work is also described as demi-couture, a mix of couture and ready to wear. A true inspiration to futuristique.
